Part 2 - Blog Overview

Let's look at some blogs in action. The current Middle East Crisis between Lebanon and Israel has focused attention on bloggers in those two nations.

First, quickly look at the mainstream media (MSM) coverage of the conflict. Skim an article or two from one or two of the following sources.

• New York Times
• CNN
• Union Tribune

Next, take about 20 minutes to scan at least two blogs from each nation.

• Beirut Spring
• Lebanese Political Journal
• Beirut Notes
• Anecdotes from a Banana Republic
• UrShalim
• Beirut Under Siege
• Israeli Bunker
• Joe Settler
• Rock of Galilee
• Blogging the Middle East
• Something Something

Finally, in your new Blogger account discuss the following questions in a shortish narrative.

1. What are your overall impressions of the blogs in contrast the MSM news articles?
2. What does this tell us about the current state of information dispersion?
3. How does this impact YOUR students? YOUR teaching?

Once you have finished, review the posts of the other participants. Take a moment to comment on one or two of them.
